In 1986 the Chernobyl nuclear powerplant exploded, releasing enormous ammounts of radioactive clouds into the atmosphere. High radiation levels were measured all over Europe, and even on the East coast of the United States. The area around the powerplant has been closed eversince. Cities were
abandoned, and are now a silent legacy of what happened. Nature took back the land that was once her's, and the streets are overgrown with trees. Wolves, wild boar, storks and Prezwalsky horses now inhabit the area.
On july 21 me, my boyfriend and some close friends left for Kiev. The reason we were going there is because we wanted to visit the Chernobyl exclusion zone. On this website you will find the picures, traveljournal and a short movie we recorded in the area.
